Trending finds products and shops whose estimated sales are growing, and new ones that already sell.
  • GET /v1/research/products/trending and GET /v1/research/shops/trending take type:
    • rising (the default): ranked by est_trend_3m, the change in estimated sales between the last three completed months and the three before. An item needs a trend for the last completed month (its history reaches that month) and at least 30 estimated sales a month on average.
    • new: products listed, or shops opened, in the last 90 days, ranked by est_monthly_avg, with at least 10 estimated sales a month.
  • Filter products with category_id and shops with category, plus the price and sales filters search has.
  • Each item is the same summary search returns, plus sales.est_trend_3m and sales.est_last_month. The list’s summary.trend_window names the six months compared, for example { "from": "2026-04", "to": "2026-09" }.
  • GET /v1/research/keywords/trending lists the keywords whose Etsy searches rose the most over the last three months, among keywords with at least 500 estimated Etsy searches a month. It covers English (language=en) for now. See Keyword research.
GET /v1/research/products/trending and GET /v1/research/shops/trending each cost 10 API credits per page with results, like a search. In an AI assistant, the get_trending tool covers all three. Trending never fetches anything from Etsy.

Coverage

Only items Alura has refreshed recently can qualify, because the trend needs sales history up to the last completed month. Alura refreshes more items over time, so trending covers more of Etsy as that grows. Until then, an item missing from trending is not proof that it isn’t rising: check it directly with GET /v1/research/products/{id}, which reports est_trend_3m whenever its history allows. The thresholds above can change as we learn what works; trend_window always tells you which months a result compares. How the trend is computed: Sales trend.
