# fetch_limit_reached

> Fetch limit reached. HTTP 429, retryable.

**HTTP 429: Fetch limit reached.** Retry the request: wait for `Retry-After` when the response has one. Errors never cost API credits.

Asking for items Alura has never seen starts a fetch from Etsy, and fetches have their own daily caps per type and a per-minute rate. Known items are not affected. `Retry-After` says when the next fetch can start; `GET /v1/usage` shows the day's `fetch_caps`.

**What to do:** Wait for Retry-After before asking for items Alura has not seen.

```json Response theme={null}
{
  "type": "https://docs.alura.io/errors/fetch_limit_reached",
  "title": "Fetch limit reached",
  "status": 429,
  "code": "fetch_limit_reached",
  "detail": "Fetch limit reached",
  "suggestion": "Wait for Retry-After before asking for items Alura has not seen.",
  "retryable": true,
  "request_id": "req_01JQ5W3H8M2N4P6R8T0V2X4Z6B"
}
```

The response is `application/problem+json` (RFC 9457) and has a `Request-Id` header with the same `request_id`. See [all errors](/api-reference/errors).
